- Sales: Leading development of sales and business in areas of expertise (particularly water or climate change mitigation)
- Senior consultants are expected to generate and follow up on sales leads
- Creation of bespoke approaches to meet client needs
- Delivery: Project manage and lead high quality delivery of client projects through clear data analysis and written outputs, alongside the provision of technical input into climate impact and resilience projects. Activities may include:
- Assessment of GHG emissions from agricultural raw materials, knowledge and understanding of the GHG Protocol standards’ requirements for emissions assessment
- Creation of bespoke emissions calculators (requiring excellent Excel skills and some understanding of computer modelling)
- Supporting on a range of other projects across the agriculture sector, including conducting rapid evidence assessments, development of roadmaps and strategies
- Support in developing and running sustainable water use models. Particularly model development and data analysis
- Senior consultants are expected to lead delivery of projects and manage complex projects
- Marketing: drafting of news articles for the website, attending events and conferences, preparing content for other promotional materials
- Senior consultants are expected to be prepared to speak at events and webinars
- BSc qualification in a relevant or related discipline (agriculture, biology, geography), or demonstration of equivalent experience
- Further relevant qualifications such as a master’s degree or PhD would be a benefit
- Full UK driving licence
- Relevant years’ experience post university, working in a consultancy, industry, or policy environment
- Practical experience working on-farm (crop or livestock) is considered a benefit
- Possess a balance of knowledge, skills, and experience across:
- Essential - Agricultural production: a good understanding of UK agricultural production systems (crops or livestock) and the key sustainability challenges affecting them – soil, water, biodiversity; AND
- Climate mitigation: an understanding of the factors affecting GHG emissions and carbon removals from crop and livestock based agricultural systems; OR
- Sustainable water use: an understanding of crop water requirements, irrigation systems, livestock water use, water footprinting
- Approach: take a rigorous approach and attention to detail in both quantitative and qualitative research and analysis
- Writing: demonstrate strong writing skills and the ability to present messages in a clear and concise way to a range of different audiences (often non-technical). Candidates should be comfortable using Word and PowerPoint to create engaging materials for presentation [this will be assessed as part of the recruitment process]
- Data analysis: demonstrate strong quantitative/mathematical and Excel skills [this will be assessed as part of the recruitment process]
- Modelling: Expertise in manipulating complex data sets (climate, water, farm data) using one or more programming languages (e.g. R, python) to support in the development of complex data analysis and simple modelling tools
- Communication: act professionally in front of a range of audiences, communicating in a clear manner through emails, videoconferencing (TEAMS) and face to face meeting
- Project management: be organised and lead complex projects to tight deadlines. Manage their own work to deliver into multiple projects
- Contract management: ensure contracts are managed on time and to budget.
- Salary negotiable depending on experience. (£32,000-£42,000 + performance related bonus)
