The Role & Key ResponsibilitiesJob Title: Multi Skilled Maintenance EngineerLocation: Sherburn in Elmet, North Yorkshire, UKSalary: £43,000 - £46,000Contract and Shift details: Permanent, 40Hrs per week.Monday to Friday operating a 3-shift pattern. 6am - 2pm, 8am- 4pm,10am -6pmm (this time can vary at short notice) with an on-call rota for 1 in 3 covering evenings and weekends.Are you a skilled Maintenance Engineer looking for a new challenge in a fast-paced, safety-first environment?Join ABN, the UK's leading manufacturer of compound animal feed, and play a crucial role in keeping our operations moving efficiently, safely, and sustainably.We're looking for a multiskilled engineer who thrives on problem-solving, embraces planned and reactive maintenance, and takes pride in plant performance and reliability.What You'll DoAs a key player in our site operations, you will:
  • Always ensure the mechanical and electrical safety of the site.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) using our Agility CMMS system.
  • Quickly and safely respond to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime.
  • Collaborate with operators to plan maintenance activities efficiently.
  • Help manage spare parts inventory and ordering via our P2P system.
  • Support energy-saving initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain excellent workshop housekeeping and support site hygiene standards.
  • Supervise external contractors and maintain site safety controls (e.g. Permits to Work)
What You'll Work WithA variety of essential plant equipment, including:
  • Drag chain and screw conveyors.
  • Belt and bucket elevators.
  • Boilers and steam plant
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Mixing and weighing machinery
  • Electrical control panels with inverters and PLCs
Who You AreEssential:
  • Multiskilled Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical) - C&G Level 3/HNC or equivalent
  • Proven experience in planned maintenance systems
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety best practices
  • Logical analytical person with effective communication skills
  • Living within a 1-hour radius of the designated site
Desirable:
  • FMCG, food production, or lean/CI experience
  • IOSH or other safety qualifications
  • Certifications such as 18th Edition, BOAS, IPAF, PASMA, Confined Space, Forklift, Welding/Fabrication
