This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in delivering specialist care, supporting patients through their urology pathway, and helping shape the future of our service.As a Urology Specialist Nurse, you will provide advance clinical care and support for patients with a wide range of urological conditions, including both surgical and outpatient treatments. Working closely with consultants and the wider MDT, you will act as a key point of contact for patients, offering education, support and coordination of care throughout their journey.Duties and responsibilities:
  • To work closely with the Director of Clinical Services, Nursing Teams and Consultant Urologists to provide an expert nursing service to Urology patients.
  • To provide education and training to all levels of staff within and outside the hospital where there is an identified need.
  • To provide leadership in the area of Urology and act as a resource and role model of advanced nursing practice.
  • To assist the Director of Clinical Services in planning the service needs, developing the scope of the service and participating in meetings and working groups as required.
  • To promote excellent customer service throughout the hospital, facilitating and co-ordinating corporate and local customer service initiatives and providing appropriate support to colleagues.
  • To support staff within the hospital to deliver high quality services to patients and their families.
  • To continually maintain competence and show evidence of professional development as required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Who We're Looking For:
  • NMC registered Nurse
  • Qualified in appropriate clinical skills - cannulation, venepuncture, male catheterisation, intravesical drug administration, stent removal
  • Significant Urological experience at a senior level
  • Experience of working within teams and carrying case load
  • Experience of applying clinical reasoning skills to a range of complex and varied patient case mixes
  • Proficient mentor and clinical supervisor
  • Ability to manage teams (Desirable)
