ABC Teachers are currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Forest School Teacher (Unqualified) to join a dedicated SEN team in a unique and inspiring outdoor learning setting, working with students aged 11–19 with Autism.This will be based in a growing provision in Leicestershire, which is a full-time, permanent opportunity for someone who wants to make a real difference in the lives of young people.Working Hours:
- Monday - Friday (08:30am-15:30pm)
- Term Time Only, 190 contact days
- 5 inset daysAbout the roleAs an Unqualified Forest School Teacher, you will:
  • Plan and deliver engaging, nature-based sessions for small groups of students
  • Use outdoor learning to support personal development, teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation through structured forest school activities.
  • Adapt activities to meet individual needs and learning styles
  • Support students' academic and social progress in line with their EHCPs or support plans
  • Ensure all activities are risk-assessed and delivered safely
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and support staff to align learning goals
  • Contribute to assessment and progress reporting as required
About the school:
  • The provision offers a nurturing, outdoor-focused learning experience for students aged 11–19 with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social Emotional Mental Health, ADHD, and other learning differences.
  • The setting is not a typical classroom.
  • The school works from a homely, therapeuticbase, specifically designed to support a small number of students, and place a strong emphasis on outdoor learning, which allows a connection with students on an emotional level first, creating the trust and security they need to thrive both academically and socially.

About you:
  • Experience working with young people with Autism/SEMH needs, SEN, or in alternative provisions.
  • Forest School Level 1 or 2 training (or willingness to work toward qualification
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • A creative and practical approach to teaching and engagement
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing manner
  • Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check
  • Subject to satisfactory references
