Contract Type: Freelance - Inside IR35 (with potential for Outside IR35 depending on status assessment)About the Role:
We are looking for a highly capable Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of a major infrastructure and building project based in Stansted. This is a hybrid role, requiring three days a week on-site and two days remote. The successful candidate will take the commercial lead on civils and building works, ensuring financial efficiency, robust reporting, and effective contract management.Key Responsibilities:
Lead commercial delivery across infrastructure and building packages.Administer NEC contracts, including Early Warnings, Compensation Events, and change control.Manage subcontract procurement, interim valuations, and final accounts.Prepare and present monthly cost/value reconciliations and commercial reports.Identify and mitigate project risks track and manage opportunities.Interface with internal teams, client commercial leads, and subcontractors.Support or lead dispute resolution where needed.Assist in mentoring or overseeing junior commercial staff (if applicable).Requirements:
7+ years of post-qualification experience in the UK construction industry.Strong background in infrastructure (civils, utilities, highways, transport) and building projects.Proven experience working with NEC3 or NEC4 contracts.Strong commercial reporting and cost control skills.Experience managing change, risk, and project forecasting.MRICS qualified or working towards (preferred but not essential).Able to work well in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary teams.Willingness to travel to Stansted 3 days per week.
