- Provide management oversight of the Newtown Youth Centre, including managing bookings, invoices, payments and ensuring that all customers have the required information and support to assist them with their usage of the centre.
- Create a safe, warm and welcoming environment that encourages the local community to use Newtown as their community hub.
- Create and maintain local partnerships and co-produce activities with the local community, partner organisations and others.
- Take ownership for managing the building, including working with internal and external partners to keep the Youth Centre fully operational at all times.
- Develop and deliver programmes and initiatives that allow Newtown to achieve against its budget projections, including ensuring that income targets are achieved.
- Work with service leads across the Youth Services team to understand the needs of young people engaging with our Youth Services, specifically relating to Community Engagement and Employability.
- Partner with organisations and initiatives local to our Youth Services sites to create community engagement opportunities for young people, such as volunteering and work experience programmes.
- Develop and roll out an employability programme that focuses on getting our young people into employment, allowing them to Thrive in life once they move on from YMCA accommodation. This includes understanding and improving existing offerings where needed and introducing new programmes.
- Ensure ongoing quality compliance of programmes being delivered, including identifying gaps in quality and developing plans to close any gaps.
- A willingness to continuously learn, adapt and improve.
- A keen eye for detail, and the ability to openly address quality gaps.
- A demonstrable passion for working with young people and young adults, with a clear desire to improve long-term outcomes for those in need.
- A genuine enthusiasm for the work of the charity.
- A friendly and warm personality, able to communicate and engage positively.
- An ability to work under pressure and manage challenging situations.
- Good organisational skills to manage a varied and unpredictable workload.
- A creative and flexible approach to work.
- Desired leadership experience, or relevant experience in quality assurance and quality management.
- At least 3 years’ experience of senior or strategic programme design, development and delivery for young adults.
- Ability to work to budgets.
- Good IT working knowledge, including Windows, Word, and Excel (training will be given on nursery software).
- Skills in mentoring and coaching staff and students.
