- Providing constructability reviews & aligning project delivery with business requirements.
- Taking the lead in managing any construction management resources assigned to you, helping to develop their skills, maintain quality standards and provide guidance and support.
- Delivering regular site safety engagement on responsible projects, to ensure an emphasis on and compliance with Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards and promoting a positive HSE culture. Continual monitoring of H&S onsite via routine inspections, challenging unsafe practices and promoting good safety practices.
- Reviewing contractor CDM, Quality, Safety and Handover submittals for quality and compliance.
- Assisting the Project Manager with the review and processing of contractual correspondence.
- Solving construction challenges by working with the contractor to develop solutions.
- Inspecting reports to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications during the construction and handover phase.
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary colleagues within Civil, Architectural, MEP, and Structural Engineering fields to ensure all works are installed to plan.
- Facilitating contractor works by liaising with different Gatwick stakeholders and Airlines as required for access, works planning, equipment shutdowns and the processing of relevant permits following the GAL processes.
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent in Building Services, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering is highly desirable but not essential.
- Experience delivering significant Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing projects.
- Previous experience as a Senior Field Engineer, Senior MEP Construction Manager or Senior MEP Engineer on larger complex infrastructure projects, which have multiple competing stakeholders, and elements of possession working is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience leading small teams.
- An understanding of the importance of controlling and managing the project close out and handover process (bringing into use).
- Previous experience in challenging and addressing HSE issues associated with construction
- Understanding and knowledge of quality management.
- Experience of tracking project progress vs programme and flagging issues early for resolution/escalation.
- Be able to perform schedule monitoring, including identifying critical activities, milestones and quantity tracking of internal and external activities.
- Sound commercial and financial awareness, with knowledge and understanding of the NEC3/4 suite of contracts.
