We're seeking six Senior Social Workers to join a dedicated Permanence Team within a forward-thinking Children & Families service in West Yorkshire. This unique role offers the opportunity to focus exclusively on progressing permanence plans through high-quality assessments and court work-free from case management pressures. You'll work within a supportive, reflective culture, alongside skilled managers, with access to regular one-to-one and group supervision to foster your professional growth.🔍 About the Role:
As part of the Permanence Team, your work will be pivotal in securing stable, lasting outcomes for children. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting targeted work such as parenting assessments, Special Guardianship Order (SGO) assessments and support plans, family time assessments, and preparing court documentation.
- Managing a focused caseload of up to five families at a time, delivering high-quality assessments and reports within strict 6-week deadlines.
- Collaborating closely with legal teams, business support, and the wider Children in Care service to ensure timely and effective progression to court.
- Supporting the reduction of delays and promoting positive outcomes through the discharge of Care Orders by way of Special Guardianship or reunification where appropriate.
The ideal candidate will be a confident, skilled social worker who:
- Is a Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England
- Has a minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience, ideally with children in care and permanence work
- Demonstrates strong expertise in assessments, court work, and care planning
- Possesses a thorough understanding of safeguarding legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004
- Is an effective communicator with the ability to build trusting relationships with children, families, and multi-agency partners
- Thrives in a collaborative environment, balancing creativity with professional rigor to achieve the best outcomes for children
- Is committed to continuous professional development and improving practice
- Deliver comprehensive assessments and contribute to high-quality care planning
- Manage a manageable, focused caseload, balancing quality with timeliness
- Work closely with families, carers, and partner agencies to ensure permanence plans progress smoothly
- Uphold principles of dignity, respect, and inclusion in every interaction
