- Hold a Level 3 Diploma for residential childcare (or equivalent) or be willing to work towards this
- Demonstrate a commitment to support and care for vulnerable and traumatised young people
- Engage in good child care practice
- Recognise and set limits of behaviour and provide controls to traumatised and vulnerable young people.
- Handle emotional and physical conflict.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to crisis situations and to use initiative
- Understand the needs of children and young people
- Understand the stages of child development, attachment and impact of trauma
