The Nuclear Medicine Physics service at the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board currently operates at the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) site. We currently provide a busy DXA , non-imaging and therapy nuclear medicine service. We also provide support to the sub-region on a daily basis. We are a small and friendly team with plans to expand the service over the next few years.We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Clinical Technologist or Radiographer at Band 7 to join our supportive and collaborative team. The successful candidate will lead and manage our technical team and will contribute to all areas including clinical and technical, quality assurance, research and development and external contract work.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be the technical leader for a highly skilled team in therapeutic and technical nuclear medicine (including DXA)The post holder will lead in the management of clinical services provided by Clinical Technologists and other technical staff.The post holder will support the delivery of an effective clinical service provision to Cardiff and Vale UHB and to the surrounding sub-region. These clinical services include DXA, PET and Nuclear Medicine.The post holder will provide line management for the technical team including development reviews and recruitment of new staff.The post holder will act as training lead for Clinical Technologists and Clinical Technologist traineesThe post holder will as lead mentor and liaison for the Swansea University Nuclear Medicine course.The post holder will fulfil the role of Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) in accordance with the Ionising Radiations Regulations, and that of Operator in accordance with the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposures) RegulationsAbout usCardiff and Vale University Health Board is one of the largest Integrated Health Boards in the UK, employing over 17,000 staff, providing over 100 specialist services.
