- Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
- FRCPath or show evidence of equivalent qualification - E Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
- Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
- MRCP or show evidence of equivalent qualification
- Proven experience and ability in all areas of clinical haematology
- Proven experience in haematological oncology
- Proven experience and competence in reporting bone marrow/trephines and blood films
- Management qualifications or experience
- Proven record of service development
- Laboratory based research
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Good computer skills
- Proven leadership skills and a responsible attitude
- A commitment to provision of a strong clinically-orientated service
- Interest in teaching and training medical and non-medical staff - E Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well in multi-disciplinary environment within and outside the department
- Good organisational skills, ability to work to deadlines, work on own initiative and priorities workload
- Interest in other specialties outside the field of haematology
- Active interest in research and development
