With a 60-year legacy as a trusted certification body, the BBA develops long-term partnerships with clients, assisting in the innovation and development of products and services, enabling continued commercial growth in both the UK and Global marketplaces, while remaining reassuringly impartial.Role Purpose:The main purpose of the Test Technician role is to plan, co-ordinate and carry out and report tests.Main Duties/Responsibilities:
Plan, co-ordinate and carry out tests on construction products and system.
Provide time, cost, and utilisation information to enable accurate time and cost estimates for new work.
Review and evaluate new work requests received from your line manager.
Co-ordinate the execution of work including the following:
be familiar with the work required as soon as the job has been assigned and ensure requirements are understood.
contact the Project Manager / client to agree a programme, schedule, and timescale.
brief other Test Technicians who have been allocated work on the same project.
request that the samples are requested in good time.
arrange for clients to visit to prepare specimens, including obtaining the required health and safety documentation, the induction of contractors and monitoring them whilst on site.
test specimens in accordance with the test request and client expectations.
keep the Project Managers and clients advised of progress of key milestones and any significant delays that may occur.
collate test reports, including input from other Test Technicians involved with the job, for approval by the Planning Manager / Team Manager.
Optimise output, for you and the team by the following;
Organise the workspace required and maintain it in an orderly manner.
Plan and communicate what is required and expected from others well in advance.
Use time available efficiently, and endeavour to run tests simultaneously to maximise output.
Think laterally to solve problems and overcome obstacles.
Escalate through line management issues that impede progress and require the intervention of others.
Health and safety
Comply with all health and safety policies Legislation and procedures defined by the BBA and government legislation.
Report all health and safety concerns to test management.
Carry out and document risk assessments. Operate with absolute technical integrity;
Manage allocated test facilities with regard to optimum efficiency, maintenance, replacement, avoidance of break-down and accreditation.
Advise and assist clients and colleagues with regard to test methods and procedures.
Be vigilant to the introduction of new and revised standards, legislation, etc. within specified area of work and implement actions to satisfy them.
Ensure that BBA procedures are adhered to at all times, including the maintenance of accreditation as required.
General Responsibilities
Promote and adhere to all BBA policies and actively promote the BBA wherever possible.
Responsible for your own health and safety and that of your colleagues and others on the BBA premises in accordance with relevant health and safety legislation and the BBA Health & Safety Handbook.

Working RelationshipsInternal:
Frequent contact, liaison and reporting to the Team Manager and as required to the Chief Engineer.
Verbal or written reports and/or presentations etc.
Collaborate with Test Development, Calibration contracts and Health and Safety personnel.
Liaise with other parts of the BBA as required.
External:
Frequent and extensive contact with clients and to a lesser extent sub-contractors.
Liaise with external organisations and sub-contractors.
