
Payroll Manager

- Manage 4 UK payrolls (monthly and bi-weekly) for approx. 800 employees
- Ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing using ADP
- Line manage and support two direct reports (Administrator & Apprentice)
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
- Handle complex payroll queries from departmental managers and internal stakeholders
- Liaise with finance and HR teams to support joined-up operations
- Ensure full compliance with tax, pension, and payroll legislation
- Reconcile payroll data and produce regular payroll reports
- Maintain up-to-date payroll documentation and internal controls
- Minimum 3 years' end-to-end UK payroll experience
- Strong working knowledge of ADP payroll systems
- Experience managing multiple payrolls and supervising staff
- Sound understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements
- High attention to detail, strong organisation, and confident communication skills
- Background in a payroll bureau or outsourced payroll provider
- Experience in a multi-site organisation
- Exposure to payroll process automation or transformation
- Proactive, can-do attitude with high energy
- Naturally hands-on, with ownership of the payroll function
- Capable of identifying and leading process improvements
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Clear, articulate communicator able to liaise across departments
