We work in strong partnership across health, education, and social care to deliver services that make a real difference to children, young people, and families.Join the People Commissioning Team (Together for Families) as a Commissioning Officer and help shape services that make a real difference in the lives of children, young people, and families.In this dynamic role, you'll contribute to the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of services by leading engagement activities, gathering and analysing insights, and supporting the development of commissioning strategies that promote value for money and improved outcomes.We're looking for a proactive and innovative thinker with excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to co-production and social value.Role AvailableWe are recruiting for a part time Commissioning Officer in the Children with Disabilities Commissioning Team.The Role:You'll be responsible for supporting and leading elements of engagement and co-design with children, young people and partner organisations. The role will involve all functions to support the team to be able to commission, manage and improve services, including reviews, analysis, planning and contributing to the contracting and procurement processes.In this role, you will:
  • Be able to work independently, take responsibility for complex intelligence gathering and research relating to specific projects and take a creative approach to market development.
  • Contributing to contracting, procurement and tendering, being responsible for ensuring that contracts are robust, delivering value for money and effectively working to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people.
  • Facilitate and undertaken engagement, participation and co-design with service users, providers and stakeholders.
  • Write communications, service specifications, reports and contribute to effective delivery of the contract and commissioning workflow for the team.
This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.Working Pattern:This is a part time role, working patterns are flexible in this role, such as hybrid work arrangements (including time in the office), compressed hours, term-time only and other alternatives.Please indicate your requested working pattern in your application.About YouWe're looking for someone who has commissioning experience, are self-motivated, can be creative, work collaboratively, be flexible, and can undertake research, analyse data and can present findings, with capacity to devise solutions to complex problems.You'll bring:
  • Experience in commissioning and contract management across children's services or related sectors.
  • Strong partnership working skills, with the ability to influence and co-design across systems.
  • A track record of delivering service improvements and managing complex projects.
  • The ability to interpret data, write reports, develop strategies, and lead implementation with confidence.
  • A proactive, creative thinker with strong communication skills and a passion for co-production and social value.
