
Mechanical Fitter

- Work as part of a mechanical assembly team, installing systems, assemblies, and components into Generator Packages.
- Fit engines, gearboxes, generators, and motors, carrying out precision alignment using advanced tools and measuring equipment.
- Fabricate, modify, and repair components and small bore pipework, with training provided for CNC and manual methods.
- Support testing of gas turbine engines and assist other departments with mechanical requirements.
- Use a variety of lifting equipment safely, including overhead gantries, chain hoists, and hydraulic jacks.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects, refurbishment, diagnostics, and repair of equipment.
- Mentor apprentices, new staff, and support engineers, and represent the team professionally at customer sites in the UK and abroad.
Essential:
- Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or minimum 5 years’ related experience
- BTEC National Certificate or City & Guilds Mechanical (Level 3 minimum)
- Experience in general mechanical fitting within aerospace, marine, automotive, or heavy plant industries
- LOLER qualification or equivalent
- IOSH Working Safely or equivalent
- Leadership or management qualification
- Competent with hand and power tools, and precision measuring equipment
- Strong attention to detail and excellent time management
- Team player with a desire to develop professionally
- Literate and numerate, able to follow technical procedures and processes
