The role is key to ensuring stock is well-controlled, available when required, and efficiently managed to support multiple engineering teams including installation, refrigeration, breakdown, and service.This is a hands-on position suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem solving, and takes pride in running an efficient stores operation.Key Responsibilities
  • Stock Control & Supplier Management
  • Maintain accurate stock levels of engineering parts, consumables, and equipment.
  • Oversee ordering, goods-in, and issuing of stock to engineers.
  • Carry out monthly stock takes and investigate discrepancies.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers to secure best pricing, lead times, and part availability.
  • Manage warranty claims, returns, and faulty goods.
  • Keep the stores clean, safe, and well-organised.
  • Implement clear systems for labelling, storage, and retrieval.
  • Develop robust processes for issuing and returning parts.
  • Support the rollout and ongoing use of Simpro.
  • Supporting the Team.
  • Work closely with engineers to ensure they have the right parts when needed.
  • Assist finance with invoice matching, supplier queries, and cost tracking.
  • Ensure safe working practices when handling chemicals and heavy goods.
  • Maintain up-to-date COSHH records for hazardous materials.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports on stock usage, spend, and availability.
  • Monitor slow-moving or obsolete stock and recommend improvements.
  • Track KPIs including stock accuracy and cost efficiency.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, or stock control role (engineering, agriculture, or manufacturing is desirable).
  • Strong IT skills, with the ability to learn stock systems quickly (Simpro/Xero experience is an advantage).
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills.
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong supplier negotiation skills.
  • Forklift licence - desirable but not essential.
