This is a brilliant opportunity to work on some of the South West’s most historically significant buildings—ranging from listed civic assets to unique privately owned properties.Whether you’re recently chartered or nearing APC completion, this is a great chance to specialise in the conservation and repair of traditional buildings within a well-established multi-disciplinary environment.The Opportunity
You’ll be working closely with a specialist team focused on heritage assets, delivering detailed surveys, conservation advice, and repair strategies across a broad portfolio of buildings. The role is varied and technical—ideal for someone with a strong understanding of traditional construction and a genuine interest in historic architecture.Typical responsibilities will include:Carrying out condition surveys, inspections, and defect diagnosisAdvising on remedial works and traditional materialsPreparing detailed reports, schedules of repair, and design/specification documentsSupporting or managing construction contracts (depending on experience)Collaborating with conservation officers, planners, and other consultantsOccasionally travelling for site inspections and survey work further afieldAbout YouExperience working with heritage or traditionally constructed buildingsStrong knowledge of building pathology and conservation techniquesExcellent report writing and communication skillsComfortable working at height and attending site-based inspectionsMRICS (or close to achieving it via the APC pathway)UK driving licenceBonus Points For:RICS Conservation Accreditation or IHBC membershipExperience with public sector, charity, or ecclesiastical heritage workUnderstanding of environmental monitoring or non-invasive investigation methodsContract administration and budget management experienceWhy Join?Work on meaningful, high-profile heritage projectsSupportive and collaborative team cultureFlexible working policy (typically 2–3 days in office/site)Professional development support (including APC mentoring and study sponsorship)Comprehensive benefits: enhanced leave, life assurance, private healthcare, and moreInterested?
