
Senior Ecologist

- Design, undertake, and lead terrestrial ecology surveys and site visits, including Phase 1 / UK Habitat surveys, protected species surveys (e.g., bats, badgers, dormice, GCN, reptiles, otters, water voles, and nesting birds), and acting as ECoW.
- Conduct desk-based studies and produce high-quality ecological reports, including PEARs, EcIAs, ES chapters, and BNG assessments.
- Independently manage a range of ecological projects, meeting client demands and deadlines.
- Develop, maintain, and manage internal and external client and stakeholder relationships.
- Prepare tenders and proposals for new ecological projects.
- Review and provide feedback on work completed by junior ecologists, offering mentorship and guidance.
- Minimum of 3 years' relevant professional experience in ecological consultancy or a related field (including public sector or conservation bodies).
- Relevant degree and/or postgraduate qualification with a strong academic record.
- Comprehensive experience with UK botanical and faunal identification.
- Knowledge and experience of Phase 1 Habitat and/or UK Habitat Classification surveys.
- Proven experience undertaking protected species surveys, mitigation, and licensing.
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and policy.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality written reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, EcIAs, and protected species survey reports.
- Experience managing and liaising with clients.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, with effective teamwork, organisation, and communication skills.
- Full or Associate Membership of CIEEM (or eligible to obtain).
- Ability to travel across the UK, including occasional overnight stays.
