We are a small, friendly consultancy which started in 2019 and now have offices east of Leeds (West Yorkshire) and near Bolsover (Derbyshire). Our work is predominantly in the north of England, the Midlands and Lincolnshire but we also have projects further afield.

Ecologist/Senior Ecologist
We are seeking an ecologist with a minimum of four years consultancy experience to be based out of either our Leeds or Bolsover office on a permanent, full time contract basis. This role offers the successful applicant the chance to develop their project management skills on a range of projects including renewable energy production, new housing schemes, commercial developments and smaller scale planning applications.

Permanent contract 35 hours / week

Essential:
Experience in project management;Have at least 4 years’ relevant experience;Excellent communication for liaising with clients, stakeholders and the general public;Trustworthy and reliable, with excellent time keeping;Extended Phase 1 habitat / UKHab survey skills;Experience with protected species surveys and mitigation;Hold protected species licences for: great crested newt (minimum level 1 Class licence (CL08)) or bats (minimum level 2 Class licence (CL18));Good report writing skills to include: Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments and other protected species survey reports / risk assessments and mitigation strategies;Experience of acting as an Ecological Clerk of Works;Able to work flexibly and away from home (including night work i.e. unsociable hours) in an outdoor (and sometimes remote) environment;Be prepared to work late evenings and early mornings;A degree or similar qualification or training in an environmental (or relevant) subject;A full clean driving licence and a vehicle, insured for business use;Have or be eligible for associate or full membership to CIEEM;Pro-active;Working effectively in a team and independently;Experienced in software package: MS Office, QGIS.Desirable
Rabies vaccinated;CSCS card;
CS38 certified for Tree climbing & Aerial Rescue;Botanical identification skills (e.g. FISC 3 or equivalent);Bat Mitigation Class Licence (CL21): to allow low impact works on bat roosts;Badger Class Licence (LR24): to interfere with a sett for development purposes.
Assistant Ecologist
We are seeking assistants (new to ecology or experienced) to work from our Leeds and Bolsover offices. We would be particulalry interested if you have a background in botanical ID and are looking to focus on this in the early stages of your career.

Flexible working;Rates of pay are subject to experience of candidate and based on annual salary equivalents: £20,850 - £24,500;Mileage and expenses are paid for field surveys. You will gain experience in:
Undertaking bat surveys (bat roost, nighttime bat walkovers/transects, static detector surveys);Great crested newt eDNA and aquatic surveys;Training for working towards a great crested newt (GCN) and / or bat class licence;Training to gain CSCS;Working on European Protected Species Licence’s (Bats / GCN);Reptile surveys;Badger surveys;Habitat Assessments: UKHab / Phase 1;Water vole / Otter / White clawed-crayfish surveys;Undertaking desk studies;QGIS;Training in bat sonogram analysis;Contributing to Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, protected species survey reports, Construction Environmental Management Plans, Biodiversity Enhancement Management Plans, Biodiversity Impact Assessments.Essential:
