Salary: £35,000 - £45,000

Start Date: ImmediateAre you a commercially-minded finance professional ready to take ownership of a growing company's financial operations? Our client, a fast-expanding business based in a semi-rural location in Lancaster, is seeking a Financial Controller with hands-on experience in budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance. You’ll be stepping into a business undergoing rapid transformation, where your input will directly influence key decisions.Responsibilities of a Financial ControllerWorking closely with senior leadership, this role will see you take full responsibility for financial planning, reporting, and operational finance processes. Key duties include:· Creating and maintaining financial forecasts, budgets, and cash flow models
· Delivering detailed monthly reporting with commentary for leadership and department heads
· Monitoring financial performance and identifying opportunities for improvement
· Supporting operational decisions with financial data and scenario modelling
· Overseeing invoicing, accounts payable, credit control, and payroll processes
· Ensuring compliance with statutory regulations including VAT, PAYE, and annual submissions
· Improving internal financial systems and controls
· Contributing to company-wide planning initiatives and funding discussionsRequired Experience and SkillsTo be successful in this role, you will need:· A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a senior finance or management accounting role
· Qualification or part-qualification (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA) – support for study can be provided
· Strong working knowledge of cloud-based accounting software (Xero preferred)
· High proficiency in Excel and financial modelling
· Strong understanding of business operations, particularly in product-based environments
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial data to non-finance stakeholders
· A proactive, solutions-focused mindsetDesirable Attributes· Previous experience in a growing SME or scale-up
· Knowledge of stock control or product-based costing
· Familiarity with cash management strategies in fast-moving businesses
