Do you live within a commutable distance of Exeter?I have a new vacancy for an estimator to join a well-respected developer in Exeter building sustainable new homes and communities across the south west region.Working in the commercial team you will heavily feed into the land department, with accurate development budgets, cashflows and estimates for the pre purchase of land and final budgets prior to hand over, ensuring maximum cost effectiveness of projects.✅ Summary of duties:
- Utilise computerised estimating/measurement software to produce accurate take-offs and cost estimates.
- Review and interpret tender documentation including correspondence, drawings, and specifications (both paper and digital formats).
- Analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations, identifying and resolving any conditions or qualifications.
- Document and record tender costs, outputs, and key data throughout the tender process.
- Provide value engineering input by challenging design proposals and identifying more cost-effective solutions to enhance development viability.
- Liaise confidently with internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders to communicate requirements and resolve queries.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel.
- Experienced in the use of estimating software (Bluebeam or similar).
- Demonstrable experience interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with confidence in liaising at all levels.
- Detailed knowledge of construction techniques and current building regulations.
- Previous experience in a housing Quantity Surveying role is desirable but not essential.
- A proactive, solution-oriented professional with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to prioritise and manage workload in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- A collaborative team player with the confidence to challenge assumptions and contribute ideas.
