
Managing Quantity Surveyor

- Lead and oversee all quantity surveying functions on large and complex civil engineering projects.
- Develop, monitor, and manage detailed project budgets, forecasts, and cost plans.
- Administer contracts (e.g., NEC, ICE, FIDIC), ensuring all obligations are met and risks are proactively managed.
- Lead the subcontractor procurement process, from tender to final account.
- Manage cost reporting, cash flow forecasting, and value reporting.
- Prepare and agree on variations, claims, and compensation events.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and planners to drive commercial performance.
- Represent the commercial team in client meetings, building strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors, helping them grow in their careers.
- A BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in quantity surveying, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrable experience with heavy construction and civil engineering projects (e.g., highways, rail, structures).
- Strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4, FIDIC, or other relevant contracts.
- Proven skills in commercial risk management and contractual negotiation.
- Proficiency with cost management software (e.g., CEMAR, Candy, CostX) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Chartered Membership of RICS, CIOB, or a similar professional body is preferred.
