Finance Manager - Liverpool - £48-55,000We are seeking a commercially minded and detail-driven Finance Manager to lead the financial operations for a Liverpool based Law firm with an excellent reputation. This pivotal role will involve overseeing day-to-day finance functions, compliance with SRA Accounts Rules, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling. The ideal candidate will bring experience from a legal or professional services environment and possess the technical and leadership skills to support continued growth and regulatory compliance.This is a hands-on role ideal for a proactive finance professional who enjoys variety and autonomy. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the firm’s finances, from daily transactions to strategic reporting and SRA compliance.Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the firm’s financial operations, including day-to-day bookkeeping, month-end close, and year-end accounts preparation
  • Ensure compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules and other relevant regulatory requirements
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget, cash flow forecasts, and monthly management accounts
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and banks
  • Monitor and report on financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities
  • Produce Board reports
  • Manage client and office accounts, billing processes, and reconciliation of ledgers
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to partners and support decision-making
  • Ensure timely submission of VAT returns and payroll reporting (in collaboration with external providers)
  • Maintain and improve financial systems, reporting tools, and internal controls
  • Monitor financial KPIs and highlight issues or efficiencies to the Partners
  • Support business planning, funding applications, and ad hoc financial projects
  • Responsible for all office administration
Requirements:Essential:
  • Full or Part qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or qualified by experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar finance role
  • Experience preparing management accounts and financial statements
  • Excellent Excel skills around financial modelling
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Comfortable working in a small team and taking ownership of end-to-end finance tasks
Desirable:
  • Strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules
  • Proficiency with legal accounting software LEAP
  • Experience using Xero accounting software
