Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer - Aerospace (Yeovil, UK)I'm working with a leading global engineering organisation who are seeking a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer to join their Life Support Systems Engineering team. This role plays a critical part in developing technology that keeps aircrew safe at high altitudes and under high acceleration "G" forces.This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working on the full system life cycle - from concept and design through to testing, certification, and in-service support - while collaborating with international teams and customers.What you'll be doingTaking ownership of the complete product life cycle of advanced life support systemsLeading system architecture definition, development and detailed design, working closely with cross-functional specialists in safety, electronics, testing and manufacturingReviewing customer requirements and ensuring these flow into system and equipment specificationsDefining compliance methods and coordinating verification and qualification activitiesActing as a technical point of contact for customers, ensuring alignment between their requirements and system performanceCoordinating with global engineering resources and external suppliersSupporting test activities and providing in-service support for deployed systemsWhat we're looking forDegree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering (or similar) with relevant experienceBackground in mechanical systems design and development, ideally with exposure to pneumatic or thermodynamic systemsStrong analytical and problem-solving ability, particularly in interpreting test resultsExperience with requirements management, validation and verificationExcellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and act as a customer-facing technical leadNice to haveExperience with life support systems, environmental control systems, or other pneumatic/mechanical productsFamiliarity with system safety, reliability and testing processesKnowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and simulation toolsExperience with requirements management tools such as DOORSAbility to mentor junior engineers and lead project work streamsWhy join?Be part of a world-leading aerospace engineering organisation with a strong global footprintWork on technology that directly impacts crew safety and mission performanceMarket-leading training, career development, and opportunities for progressionInclusive and innovative culture with a strong emphasis on collaboration
