Medical Physics provides scientific and technical support to a wide range of clinical and laboratory services in the Trust and to many external clients. With a large staff of scientific and technical personnel, and good facilities, the Department provides advice and support in applying physical science and engineering to a wide range of techniques and facilities in health care. The Radiation Safety and Radiology Physics group provide services to multiple Radiology, Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine, PET and Radiotherapy services including those within GSTT. This post will act as co-lead in the area of Radioactive substances although some involvement in other areas is possible.Main duties of the jobYou will be working in the Radiation Safety and Radiology Physics Section of the Medical Physics Department and primarily based at the Guy's Hospital site, although you may lead work at any of the Trust locations and for a range of external contracts.   • RPA 2000 Certificate of Competence to act as a Radiation Protection Adviser
Knowledge skill and experienceEssential
  • Devolved operational line management experience for scientific and technical staff
  • Able to deliver teaching and training on complex subjects
  • Advanced knowledge of radiation protection issues in Nuclear Medicine (therapy and diagnostic) and radioactive laboratories
  • Specialist knowledge in other legislative areas such as Road Transport of Radioactive Materials, Radioactive Substances legislation, Radiation Emergency Preparedness etc.
  • Lab auditing experievce
