The Prison houses around 408 male patients, the majority of whom are aged between 18-40 years of age. HMP Leicester runs a nurse lead service, you will be working with an experienced and supportive multi-disciplinary team including an substance misuse specialist NMP. Your role will be focused on supporting patients with substance misuse and acute needs, suitable applicant must have experience and feel confident prescribing controlled substance. HoursTuesday - 16:30 - 20:30Thursday - 16:30 - 20:30Friday - 8:30-20:30 Saturday - 14:00 - 18:00 We are also able to consider this as a job shareSalaryThis position is a part time role working 24 hour per week, with an annual salary of up to £125,000 per annum depending on experience.How will we support you?Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training courseCompetency frameworkRegional and national career development opportunitiesOur bespoke Learning Management System to address your learning needsSupport from the wider teamCandidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checksMain duties of the jobOur General Practitioners are extremely valued and are well respected members of the Prison Healthcare community, as a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will
  • Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, and therefore as a General Practitioner at Practice Plus Group you get the opportunity to further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldnt usually experience within a practice, or even A&E environment.
  • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.

  • MBChB or MBBS
  • Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
  • Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
  • Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
  • RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
