We are looking to recruit an experienced and dynamic Registered Nurse to join our newly commissioned Brachial Plexus service. We are looking for an experienced Band 7 nurse with the prescribing qualification but are also open to recruiting a Band 6 nurse with the right experience, skills and attitude who is willing to undertake specialist training and become a Band 7 Enhanced Practitioner. As this is a new role within a brand new service coming to NBT we welcome and actively encourage you to reach out for an informal discussion or visit to discus this very exciting opportunity.The South West Plexus Team (SWePT) is a new UK regional specialist center for the treatment of brachial plexus injuries and complex peripheral nerve injuries. Some patients are seen and treatedas emergencies as a result of acute trauma, and others are referred because of chronic problems(e.g. Nerve compressions including TOS) sometimes these can be associated with previous injury.The unit also deals with nerve tumours in the upper and lower limbs. The SWePT team comprises ofan interdisciplinary team of Surgeons, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and a CNS / Enhanced Practitioner . Ourvision is to work together to provide evidence based, collaborative and compassionate care within asupportive team environment.Main duties of the jobCo - ordinating the referrals and care of patients into the regional center and ensuring all investigations are in place.Counselling patients and their families who suffer traumatic injuriesUndertaking telephone follow up clinicsTeaching and Education of patients and staffParticipating in service review, research and audit programsWorking closely with the lead brachial plexus surgeon and consultant physiotherapist who will provide training and support with developing this new role.Reviewing patients on the in patient trauma wards and prescribing neuropathic analgesia.Working within the wider community of enhanced practitioners and advanced clinical practitioners to ensure nursing knowledge and skills maintained and developed.About usNorth Bristol NHS Trust employs over 12,000 staff providing healthcare to the residents of Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset from our award-winning hospital building at Southmead.
