Due to the recent recategorisation to a Category B Remand Prison, we have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Nurse - Non Medical Prescriber to join our Primary Care team at HMP BrixtonHMP Brixton is now a Category B male prison since April 2025 housing men on remand. Our patients needs will vary greatly but there will be a focus on mental health, substance misuse and early days in custody.HoursFull time, 30 hours per week - Monday to FridaySalaryFrom £54,000 to £58,000 per annum FTE (£43,200 to £46,400 per annum pro rata) - depending on experienceHow will we support you?

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK on a permanent basis and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.What you'll be doingAs a Non Medical Prescriber your responsibilities will vary. You will
  • Undertakes Clinical Nursing Practice at an advanced level using expert knowledge and clinical skills to deliver care to patients
  • Provide expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues and ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence.
  • Provide treatment as required, including prescribing medication, within their sphere of competence.
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments of patients looked after.
  • Provide advice/support in relation to crisis situations, conditions, and treatment plans,

  • Registered professional with current active registration (NMC, GPHC, HCPC)
  • BSc or equivalent qualification
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification
  • Understanding and knowledge of policy developments related to the delivery of primary care
services including , Clinical Governance, Quality & Outcomes Framework * Understanding of evidence based practice
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
