Our SEN school creates a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child can reach their full potential through personalised learning and dedicated support.The RoleWe are seeking a passionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide individualised support to a student with special educational needs. This is an incredibly rewarding role where you will make a real difference to a young person's educational journey and overall development.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one support to an assigned student with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and participate fully in school life
  • Support behaviour management strategies and implement individual behaviour plans
  • Help develop communication skills and use appropriate communication aids or systems
  • Assist with mobility and physical needs where necessary
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to implement Individual Education Plans
  • Support transitions between activities and environments
  • Record observations and progress to inform planning and assessment
  • Foster independence and life skills development
Essential Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs
  • Understanding of different types of SEN including autism, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and communication difficulties
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviour positively
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet changing needs
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting child welfare
  • Willingness to undertake training in specialist areas such as manual handling, first aid, or specific SEN approaches
