Behaviour Support AssistantLocation: Tameside (SK14/SK16)Job Type: Full-time, 8.15am-3.30pmSalary: £13.75- £14.50 per hourStart date: Varied dates in the Autumn Term 2025Do you have a passion for supporting young people and making a meaningful difference in their lives?If so, we may have the role for you!Teaching Personnel are currently seeking multiple understanding Behaviour Support Assistants to assist pupils in primary schools across the Tameside area (SK14/SK16). The support of behaviour will be on a 1:1 and small group basis.This is a vital role supporting pupils in EYFS and KS1 who may find school challenging due to behavioural, emotional or social needs and find transitions difficult. You will work alongside class teachers and external agencies to help these pupils feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. The start date for this role will be varied dates within the Autumn term so schools can identify where the need for additional behaviour support is required across EYFS and KS1. Depending on the needs and demands of the children across the 2 phases, there is great opportunity for the right candidate to gain a more long-term position.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one and small group behavioural and emotional support to specific pupils across EYFS and KS1
  • Help implement and adapt behaviour intervention plans, following school policies and guidance from external agencies
  • Support emotional regulation and promote positive social interactions e.g. learning breaks and social stories
  • Work closely with teachers and SEND staff
  • Create a safe, consistent and structured environment where children can flourish
Requirements for this role:
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • A person committed to the role and students you are supporting to allow consistency
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with students and school staff
  • Experience working within SEND or pastoral support (preferred but not essential)
  • Team teach or equivalent trained (preferred but not essential)
  • Experience using positive behaviour management strategies
