This is a diverse role within a busy and interesting GP practice in Fishguard, Pembrokeshire. As one of our team has decided to retire after 30 years of service with the NHS, we are now looking for a new member to join our small, friendly but very hardworking team. The role will play an important part in offering general assistance to the wider practice team and in projecting a positive and friendly image to our patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone. We strive to provide a smooth, punctual, effective and efficient reception and administrative service ensuring that the appointment system is run efficiently and that we receive, assist, and direct patients in accessing appropriate services or healthcare professionals in a courteous, efficient, and effective way. The role includes a lot of face to face interaction with our patients, but in addition, will need to undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice, including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team as necessary.Main duties of the jobThe main duties of the role will centre around :(a) reception: meeting/greeting/assisting patients, ensuring that the appointment system is run efficiently; answering telephone calls; using the care navigation pathway in the most efficient manner possible to assist patients in receiving healthcare support in the fastest and most appropriate manner;(b) administration: providing day to day clerical and administrative support to the professional clinical and nursing staff to assist them in the efficient and timely execution of their responsibilities.A full outline is available within the main job description, which can be supplied on request.About usBased in the centre of Fishguard Town, our Health Centre has four GP partners, three salaried GPs, a nursing team of three extremely experienced nurses, and a team of admin and clerical staff.
