Secondary Teaching Assistant - NewhamAbout UsWe are a dynamic and inclusive Newham secondary school dedicated to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment. Our school serves students across KS3 and KS4, providing tailored support to those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as Special Educational Needs (SEN).The RoleWe are looking for an experienced and motivated Secondary Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with students, teachers, and support staff to provide in-class assistance and help create an environment where all learners can succeed.This role is particularly well-suited to graduates and individuals aspiring to pursue a career in teaching.Key Responsibilities· Provide in-class support to students with SEMH and SEN, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their learning objectives.· Work with teachers to adapt lesson materials and resources for individual or small-group needs.· Support students in developing self-regulation, social skills, and confidence.· Assist with classroom management and behavior strategies.· Collaborate with the SENCO, teaching staff, and external professionals to implement strategies and Individual Education Plans (IEPs).· Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all students.Requirements· Previous experience working with secondary school-aged students is essential.· A good understanding of supporting students with SEMH and SEN needs.· A degree or equivalent qualification is highly desirable.· Aspiring teachers or those considering a career in education are encouraged to apply.· Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.· A proactive, empathetic, and patient approach to supporting students.We are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment.
