The Role
As a Digital Performance Analyst, you will be responsible for designing and implementing performance measurement frameworks, analysing service data, and helping teams make evidence-based decisions. You'll work within agile, multidisciplinary teams to ensure digital services are meeting user and business needs-translating complex data into clear, actionable insights.This role offers the opportunity to work across multiple government departments and public sector programmes, contributing to the delivery of accessible, inclusive, and high-performing digital services.
Key Responsibilities
  • Define, collect, and analyse performance data to assess service effectiveness and user impact.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools using platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, Google Analytics 4, BigQuery, and Google Tag Manager.
  • Collaborate with developers, designers, and delivery teams to embed data-driven decision-making throughout the service lifecycle.
  • Translate complex datasets into accessible insights for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support GDS assessments by providing robust evidence aligned with the Government Digital Service performance framework.
  • Work with cloud-based platforms (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud Platform) to support scalable analytics solutions.
  • Contribute to communities of practice and support junior analysts through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Advocate for inclusive, user-centred design and sustainable service delivery.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Experience in performance analysis, data analytics, or a related field within digital service delivery.
  • Strong proficiency in data tools and languages: SQL, Python, R, Excel.
  • Expertise in data visualisation and dashboard development using tools like Power BI, Tableau, Google Analytics, Looker Studio, and Google Tag Manager.
  • Practical understanding of Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and experience applying GDS design principles in digital service delivery.
  • Experience working with UK Central Government departments or regulated public sector environments.
  • Ability to simplify complex data and communicate insights effectively across disciplines.
  • Experience working with technical teams to ensure data is embedded in service design.
  • Understanding of cloud technologies and their role in scalable data solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Desirable Attributes
  • Experience contributing to Centres of Excellence or analytics communities.
  • Consultancy experience or exposure to client-facing environments.
  • Understanding of how performance data can support environmental and social impact goals.
  • Familiarity with sustainable service design principles.
Security Clearance
To be appointed, candidates must be eligible for Security Check (SC) clearance. This requires continuous residence in the UK for the past 5 years and other standard pre-employment checks.
