
Shift Supervisor

- Serve as the primary contact for all customer enquiries during night shifts, ensuring timely and effective communication and resolution of issues.
- Conduct thorough briefings and debriefings with drivers to ensure they are fully informed of their routes, responsibilities, and any operational updates.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with GDL policies and procedures, promoting safe and efficient driving practices.
- Coordinate with other depots to address and resolve any dropped or lost delivery routes, ensuring minimal disruption to service.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with driver agencies to ensure adequate staffing for evening shifts and the following day.
- Oversee the completion of geo-fencing tasks within the Transport Management System (TMS), ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
- Allocate drivers and vehicles for the next day’s delivery runs, optimizing resources and ensuring operational readiness.
- Report all major vehicle defects to the designated breakdown contractor for immediate attention and resolution.
- Escalate minor vehicle defects and operational issues to the Deputy Operations Manager for appropriate follow-up.
- Lead investigations into incidents and disciplinary matters, gathering evidence and preparing reports in line with company procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date certification in IOSH Managing Safely and ensure compliance with all Intelex health and safety processes.
- Conduct regular warehouse safety checks and inspections to identify hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
- Provide line management and support to the Warehouse Team Lead, fostering team development and operational excellence.
- Previous experience working in a transport environment, including knowledge of working time directive and EU driver’s hours.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
- Critical attention to detail and ability to meet daily deadlines.
- Able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
- MS packages to include, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Proficiency in MS packages, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Competitive Salary: £36,000pa to £39,500pa, depending on experience
- Hours: 18:00hrs – 06:00hrs, on a 4on 4off basis.
