We now have an exciting opportunity for a position in our Contracts and Partnerships Team to facilitate establishing these collaborations to support the entire breadth of UCB’s project pipeline.
The role is based in Slough, UK, supporting UCB’s Early Solutions organisation.
Working closely with scientific teams to evaluate research proposals to advise on IP and commercial sensitivities with regards to contracts. You will collaborate closely with other colleagues from Research, Intellectual Property, Compliance, Finance and in particular the Legal group (who are responsible for drafting the contracts) to lead and drive the negotiation of all contract types with our external partners to enable execution of contracts in a timely fashion.
The role is heavily outward facing, and also includes monitoring established contracts to track UCB’s obligations and act as a point of contact for grant awarding bodies, such as UK Research and Innovation and medical charities.
You will be responsible for activities leading to the implementation of contracts related to a wide range of UCB’s external research collaboration network by being involved with the following types of agreements;
Postdoctoral Research Agreements
Tissue Biorepository Access
Material Transfer and Confidentiality Agreements
Skills and Experience
Proven track record of successfully leading the negotiation and execution of a range of contracts types
Good knowledge of key contractual clauses including IP, licensing, confidentiality and liabilities
A scientific background would be beneficial but not essential (degree level or equivalent or above)
Experience negotiating contracts with academic and commercial entities, including hospitals is highly desirable
Knowledge of the Pharmaceutical Industry
Good communication skills, proven collaborative working style, able to juggle multiple priorities, and successfully worked in multi-disciplinary teams with colleagues at all levels
