DepartmentThis is an exciting opportunity to join the Mental Health Social Care Research Centre in the School for Business and Society, a friendly and supportive research group undertaking studies around the social experiences of mental health. We are looking for a skilled and versatile Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on two studies: (1) a feasibility trial of a skills-enhancing programme for carers of people presenting with complex emotional needs and chronic emotion dysregulation (0.5 FTE) and (2) the development and validation of a screening tool for social frailty in older people (0.3 FTE).RoleThe main duties and responsibilities of the job are to conduct research under the supervision of senior colleagues. Specifically, this will involve:Undertaking and overseeing participant recruitment and data collectionManaging databasesUndertaking qualitative semi-structured interviews and analysisUndertaking structured interviews and data entryEnsuring study processes and protocols are followed within sitesCo-ordinate study meetingsPrepare interim and final reportsSkills, Experience & Qualification neededThe main qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience essential to this post are:A PhD in a social science or mental health subject or equivalent experienceKnowledge of both trial methodologies and qualitative researchKnowledge of the needs of mental health carers and/or older peopleHighly developed communication skillsAbility to write up research work for publicationExperience of working with mental health carers and/or older peopleExperience of working on a randomised controlled trial or similar quasi-experimental study in the NHSAttention to detail and commitment to high qualityInterview date: To be confirmedFor informal enquiries: please contact Martin Webber on martin.webber@york.ac.ukCondition of employmentThis role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
