The Trust seeks to appoint a Consultant Anaesthetist with an interest in Neurosurgical Anaesthesia. This is a whole-time position, and the new appointee will share the caseload, facilities, and traineegrade support with the existing consultants. While the main intention of this position is to meet the requirements of Neurosurgical theatre'sthere is the potential for the successful candidate to utilise the flexible theatre element of the rota to undertake Neuro IR theatre lists which does include a thrombectomy service all of which can be explored further at interview.The post is whole time post of 10pa's and offers 8.5 programmed activities (PAs), and 1.5 SPA.The successful candidate will be expected to provide pre-operative assessment, anaesthesia, and follow-up. He/she will be expected to introduce and apply new techniques as appropriate and to take a share of the general work of the department, including cover for consultant colleagues where practical.Main duties of the jobThe appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals. The appointee will take his/her share of clinical responsibilities within the Department of anaesthesia. This will include provision for perioperative assessment. In addition to duties within sub-speciality, the appointee will be required to provide anaesthesia for adult patients in all specialties as appropriate to his/her training and experience.Develop a team with a strong emphasis on delivering a cross-site service.Post-holders will be required to work on each site.Comply with your agreed job plan, which is reviewed annually.As a Consultant at BHRUT the post involves prospective on-call duties which attracts 1.25PAs with a 5% uplift due to frequency of 1:10 with planned weekends which will include provision for adults as well as neonatal to teenage patients.
