£450/day (Inside IR35)We are working with a developer client who is seeking an experienced Preconstruction Technical Manager to join their team on a 6-12 month contract, with potential to transition into a permanent role. This is a remote position, with a laptop provided.
The successful candidate will play a key role in de-risking projects at preconstruction stage, ensuring robust technical due diligence across civil engineering, utilities, and planning. You will work closely with the Strategic Planning Manager and wider technical team to provide expertise from land appraisal through to project delivery.Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical due diligence on prospective sites, focusing on civil engineering, utilities, drainage, and infrastructure requirements.
- Review and manage planning details, ensuring conditions, Section 106 agreements, and statutory obligations are understood and addressed.
- Coordinate utility strategies (gas, water, electricity, fibre) and liaise with statutory providers to ensure deliverability and cost certainty.
- Support early-stage design development to align with planning requirements, Building Regulations, and budget constraints.
- Prepare technical appraisals, consultant briefs, and manage external consultants where required.
- Produce risk assessments, value engineering solutions, and technical reports to support decision-making.
- Collaborate across Land, Planning, and Technical teams to ensure projects are viable, compliant, and deliverable.
- Technical management experience with a developer in the UK
- Technical experience within civil engineering, utilities, and preconstruction, ideally across mixed-use or residential-led developments.
- Strong knowledge of planning policy, Section 106, Building Regulations, and NHBC Standards.
- Proven ability to manage preconstruction processes from feasibility to handover.
- Excellent coordination and organisational skills, with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Strong communicator able to engage with planning authorities, statutory bodies, consultants, and internal teams.
- Contract role, inside IR35.
- Competitive rate: £450/day.
