Technical Author – Liverpool City Centre – £65kA well-established professional services organisation that's modernising their technology infrastructure and developing sophisticated in-house solutions. They're building robust software systems that enhance their service delivery and operational capabilities, requiring comprehensive documentation to support their growing development team and ensure knowledge transfer across their technical operations.The Role:They're looking for a talented Technical Author to join their software development team and become the cornerstone of their documentation strategy. You'll be producing comprehensive schematics, operational resources documentation, and developer support materials whilst working closely with their Developed Systems Support team, Cloud Engineering and Infrastructure teams, as well as the core development team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys bridging the gap between technical complexity and user-friendly communication across multiple technical disciplines.What's on offer:

Skills they’re looking for:
  • GIT / GitLab / GitHub – for source control and documentation versioning
  • Markdown / Asciidoc / Sphinx – for structured, code-based documentation
  • Visio (or equivalent) – for creating system diagrams and data flow visuals
  • CI/CD tools – to understand and document build and deployment processes
  • Code repositories/environments – for working directly within code to extract and document functionality and architecture
What you'll need:
  • Creative mindset with ability to transform complex technical systems into clear, understandable documentation
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong administrative capabilities
  • Self-motivated approach with ability to work effectively under deadline pressure
  • Outstanding communication skills and collaborative team-working abilities
  • Background in requirements gathering, analysis, and technical specification writing
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle from backend to frontend
  • Appreciation of application architecture principles
  • Knowledge of various programming language roles and applications
Nice to haves:
  • Experience with documentation-as-code approaches using Markdown, AsciiDoc, MDX, or Sphinx
  • Background in software architecture template creation
  • Experience with document versioning techniques and tools
  • Understanding of data flow analysis and system integration mapping
