In 2022, 134.2 million lots were traded, equating to $15.2 trillion and 3.1 billion tonnes notional, with a market open interest high of 1.8 million lots.The metals community uses the LME, an HKEX Group company, as a venue to transfer or take on price risk, as a physical market of last resort and as the provider of transparent global reference prices.Overall Purpose of RoleIn this role, you’ll work collaboratively with the Solution Delivery and IT Operations teams to deploy and operate our systems, help automate and streamline our operations and processes, build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations and troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, test and production environments.As a DevOps Specialist, you will also be responsible for establishing the continuous deployment pipeline, managing, monitoring and automating the company infrastructure using a variety of tools. You will also be engaged in shaping the company’s strategy for cloud environment usage.Knowledge and communication are key in this role as you will also be expected to work closely with the tech leads to help continuously push innovation in all areas of the business. You should be able to work in a fast paced environment and have an in-depth understanding of complex IT systems form deployment, configuration and maintenance perspective.ResponsibilitiesEstablish, implement and manage the methods of deployment (development, testing and production) and the processes and tools required to execute those deployments.Establish, implement and manage the continuous integration of systems used to build LME software products.Manage the software development tools used by the development team and ensure they are scalable and failure proof.Create failure management processes and tools so outages can be handled without causing a loss of delivery.Champion changes to tools and processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the development team.Manage issue tracking and agile development tools (Atlassian JIRA).Automate parts of the development delivery process using scripts and other appropriate tools.Document processes and user guides for integrated tools and scripts.Devise and develop analytical methods and tools to measure the efficiency of products and processes.Advise on new technologies and methodologies by becoming an expert in emerging technologies and tools.Assist in the design, building and ongoing maintenance of new automated infrastructure for any additional services the LME develop in the future.Ensure automation is at the heart of the infrastructure being used by the company.Work in a DevOps environment in a team containing multiple skill sets across; development, QA, and systems specialisations. Willing to jump in on any problem as it emergesRequired Knowledge and Level of ExperienceStrong coding skillsStrong troubleshooting skillsIn-depth experience operating in virtual environmentsStrong, working experience with both Windows and Unix based operating systems.Experience working as part of a modern development team; working knowledge of pair programming, testing best practices, automation, peer reviewMust have a good working knowledge of one or more scripting languages (e.g. python, Ruby)Practical experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP, TDD)Understanding of modern CI & CD tools and techniques (Jenkins, Travis, Solano CI)Experience working with Docker / KubernetesExperience with version control systems (git or similar)Configuration management with Puppet/Chef/Salt/Ansible.
