We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and committed Consultant in Paediatric ENT for this new post to join our expanding team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This is a new 10 PA post within the ENT department, based primarily at Leeds General Infirmary, with potential sessions at Wharfedale Hospital.The successful applicant will join a busy and highly specialised department, contributing to the delivery of a high-quality tertiary referral service in Paediatric Otolaryngology, as well as providing general ENT on-call cover. The appointee will work alongside a multidisciplinary team delivering care across both outpatient and theatre settings, with access to dedicated ENT inpatient and paediatric wards.Leeds ENT is a thriving unit with 15 substantive consultants and a full complement of training and non-training grade doctors, offering comprehensive services across all ENT subspecialties. The department benefits from state-of-the-art facilities, integrated clinical and office space, and strong links to the adjacent Leeds Childrens Hospital.INTERVIEWS WILL BE HELD: Monday 13 October 2025Main duties of the jobThe successful applicant should possess FRCS ORL-HNS (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register. A fellowship in Paediatric Otolaryngology would be advantageous.Applicants should have established skills in Otolaryngology and its related specialties in particular Paediatric ENT. The post holders will strive to ensure that the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust maintains and improves its standing nationally and delivers high quality patient care within the framework of the NHS.The ENT consultant post will offer an opportunity to work flexibly within the ENT department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals across the Trust, with the main base being Leeds General Infirmary, although there may be a requirement to work at Wharfedale Hospital and St James Hospital. Adequate travel time will be allocated for any clinical activity at a different site to the base hospital (Leeds General Infirmary). This will require a commitment to close teamwork, so as to be able to offer timely interventions for patients. As well as having fixed clinic and theatre sessions, the post holder will cover clinic and theatre sessions, made vacant by colleagues' leave. This will allow a more efficient use of theatre and clinic space. ENT have a dedicated ward, L23, based in Jubilee Wing, and have use of the Paediatric wards, L49 & CSAL, in Clarendon Wing. Adult theatres are based mainly in Jubilee Wing, but ENT operating is also completed in Gilbert Scott theatre suite and Wharfedale Hospital. Paediatric Operating takes place in Clarendon Wing theatre suite. For all Theatre lists, time is allocated in the job plan for Pre & Post operative ward rounds.
