- Develop and implement a robust sales strategy, reviewing progress on a regular basis with the senior leadership team.
- Create proposals and plans and guide long-term objectives to meet business needs and requirements, including annual business development and brand/Communication plans.
- Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities for the company, defining where to focus new business development efforts and resources.
- Research new markets and emerging market trends, recommending new services and proposing and developing new strategic client partnerships.
- Manage an effective pipeline of potential new business accounts and active bids from first contact to final close, enabling clear definition of the best possible pre- RFP strategy.
- Lead on presenting to new/prospective clients during the tender process and oversee the production of RFP responses to time and to client specifications.
- Present marketing opportunities to the business and help to develop marketing strategies.
- Lead, manage and develop the sales team to meet and exceed targets.
- Manage sales resources and costs to budget and plan.
- Build, maintain and foster solid working relationships with all stakeholders, both internally and externally.
- Liaise with operational and support colleagues to ensure their positive input to proposals, presentations and site visits.
- In conjunction with the Operations Directors, identify client relationship layers for business that is due to be retendered and ensure the delivery of tender commitments.
- Build and maintain strong industry sector relationships.
- Manage the finances within budget for business development and brand activity.
- Manage and control departmental budget for direct team and resources.
- Constantly challenge how the business can achieve greater profitability.
- Track record in B2B sales within a multi-location industry.
- Demonstrable experience of winning new business from major corporate clients as well as strong account management expertise.
- Excellent commercial skills, with the ability to exploit opportunities and prioritise accordingly.
- Accomplished leader and people manager, able to pull a team together and communicate the common goals to gain buy-in and support.
- Strong communicator, both written and verbal, who can confidently influence at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Financially astute with the ability to be able to think and plan strategically, but still deliver to demanding timescales.
- Strong business acumen and an informed strategic thinker who can demonstrate high levels of commercial and emotional intelligence.
- Proven ability to work on complex multiple projects at any given time.
- Self-starter who is energetic and motivated.
