- Compilation and management of duty rosters ensuring adequate staff are available to provide agreed service levels
- support with staff training and maintenance of staff records
- basic computer skills
- ensure all paperwork at ward level is completed by staff according to policy and procedure
- monitor food waste levels and temperature controls
- carry out audits
- brief and support staff on departmental issues
- liaise with ward staff, patients or relatives regarding special food requirements
- oProfessional knowledge acquired through vocational qualification level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent in catering, plus additional knowledge acquired through training and experience to diploma or equivalent level
- Interpretation of therapeutic and prescribed diets
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
- Good basic education including reading, writing and numeracy skills
- Basic understanding of how important food safety is
- Be able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
- Awareness of the importance of confidentiality and information governance in the workplace
- Awareness of security and access control within the workplace
- Ability to organize and prioritise work effectively
- Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision
- Ability to work as an effective team member
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, employees and visitors
- Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to working practices
