Role ID: SF 65567At Babcock we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Welder at our Rosyth, Fife site.The roleAs a Welder, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will work on the manufacturing of the 22 tactical missile tube assemblies as part of the common missile compartment (CMC) project for the UK Successor and US Ohio Class replacement submarine programmes.Day-to-day, you'll safely perform welding and welding related tasks in a production environment supporting the Successor Project.
- Execute welding tasks using SMAW, GMAW-P, GTAW, SAW, and Arc Air Gouging processes, adhering to essential variables and project specifications.
- Operate Welding Equipment Safely: Set up and operate welding plant in line with standard operating procedures, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
- Conduct visual inspections of welds to meet contract and project requirements; perform basic visual checks and maintain welding plant functionality.
- Use digital and thermal devices for temperature monitoring, manage pre-heating equipment, and ensure accurate control of welding consumables.
- Carry out daily machine checks, report faults promptly, and contribute to ongoing process improvements in a production environment.
- An understanding of weld defects and causes
- Perform set up procedures for all welding equipment and accessories to be used on projects
- Experience with pulsed MIG is ideal or MIG and TIG.
