Key Responsibilities
  • Perform testing on raw materials and new formulations, evaluating for suitability, quality, and performance.
  • Operate safely and uphold a culture of health and safety throughout the lab.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with customer, legal, and internal quality standards.
  • Conduct laboratory tests using a range of established chemistry techniques.
  • Support the implementation and validation of new analytical instruments.
  • Maintain analytical equipment and support its use across the Product Development and QA teams.
  • Develop, write, and maintain analytical methods based on team needs.
  • Manage chemical inventory and ensure all COSHH documentation is up to date.
  • Evaluate lab results and suggest improvements in methods or instruments where needed.
  • Schedule and coordinate calibration of laboratory instruments (internally and externally).
  • Accurately record and document all test outcomes and research data.
  • Perform R&D projects to support wider business innovation.
  • Support and collaborate across departments including QA, Production, and external clients.
  • Maintain GLP (Good Laboratory Practice), including lab hygiene and equipment care.
  • Contribute to the development of new products and reformulations (NPD/EPD).
Skills Required
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal and documentation skills.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Capable of working independently or collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Email).
  • Excellent numeracy and analytical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques such as GC and spectroscopy.
  • Proven experience in method development, maintenance of instrumentation, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Awareness of laboratory safety and COSHH regulations.
