*Closing Date 18th September*Laboratory information and Communication Technology (ICT) Manager(Band 6)Dundonald BT16Temporary (Approx 3 months)£19.10 per hour37.5 hours per weekMain PurposeAs Laboratory Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Manager, the postholder will have responsibility for the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and other IT systems used across Pathology to ensure they fulfil the Department's operational and business requirements. They will work in collaboration with the Trust ICT Department, Business Services Organisation, Laboratory ICT team and System suppliers to ensure the various systems, including communications systems, remain up to date and meet the needs of the Pathology Departments and service users.Main Roles and Responsibilities * Management of master files, user accounts and access levels.
  • Coordinating and managing any changes, updates and developments of the system ensuring proper testing ahead of implementation
  • Management and maintenance of codes including addition, removal and mapping of test, user, source and read codes.
  • Developing regular and effective maintenance schedules, on all systems and troubleshooting problems when necessary
  • Ensuring there are systems in place to monitor, audit and assess the data quality in or supplying the Laboratory IT systems.
  • Merging patient records on the LIMS system
  • In conjunction with the Trust ICT Department managing the laboratory aspects of Electronic Order Requesting Systems
  • Responsibility for managing and maintaining the electronic reporting of patient results generated by the laboratory, directly to GP practice IT systems across the region.
  • Providing support to the Trust IT Department in the installation and application of new software
  • Assisting Suppliers and Trust ICT Department with installation, monitoring and management of the various equipment interfaces employed across the Laboratory
  • Acting as security officer for the laboratory system, monitoring and reporting security issues to the Trust IT Department.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of supplies necessary for the continuity of the service.
  • Maintenance of referrals databases.
  • Provide assistance to Point of Care team troubleshooting connectivity issues on the network and with HL7/ADT messaging issues.
  • Provide assistance to Regional Point of Care lead in planning for new POC Devices with regards network HL7 and ADT connectivity.
  • Complete and submit project mandates to Trust IT and BSO Labs team via the Pathology network for any system or service improvements
  • Take a leading role in coordinating and managing any IT projects related to Pathology,
  • Take a proactive role in designing IT solutions such as spreadsheets and databases which will assist managers in using their own data to manage their services.

A full job description will be provided.)Essential Criteria:(Please note original certificates will be required for proof of all qualifications)A University Degree in ICT and at least 2 years' experience in an ICT role.ORA professional qualification HND or equivalent in an ICT related subject and at least 3 years' experience in an ICT roleORHave at least 6 years' experience in an ICT roleANDHave demonstrable experience in the use of data processing and statistical analysis software to extract complex data and produce meaningful reports e.g. Business objectsHave demonstrable experience of working with ICT networks, peripherals and associated hardware.Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.
