Our mission is to empower our clients to lead fulfilling lives by providing personalised support and enabling them to accomplish everyday tasks independently.As a support worker, you will play a crucial role in assisting the senior vision rehabilitation officer. You will help to address the physical, social and emotional needs of people struggling and adapting to sight loss. You will help to boost confidence and provide advice and support on a range of agencies and work closely with professionals, family and care givers.What do you need for the role?
Enabling skills - Equipping individuals with essential skills to perform daily activities independently. This may involve mobility, training, cooking, personal care and household tasks.Goal Achievement - Collaborating with clients to set and achieve personal goals. Whether it's mastering a new skill or pursuing a hobby, your encouragement and guidance will make a difference.Emotional support - Being a compassionate listener and providing emotional support during challenging moments.Empathy - A genuine desire to make a positive impact on people's lives.
Compassion kindness and understanding are essential qualities.
Patience Supporting people with limited sight requires patience and sensitivity.Time management - It will involve a degree of autonomous working with a mixture of face to face work and administrative tasks, therefore, an ability to manage your working day and your time is a core requisite of the role.Documentation - Maintaining accurate records of people's progress and interactions.What experience do you need?
Experience of working in health or social care or working with people who have a care need is preferable. An additional understanding of sight loss would be highly desirable.Full training will be provided for the role but your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn will be hugely important.Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
