Pay Rate to Intermediary: £25.06 per hourSpinwell is recruiting for an Assistant Accountant for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT
  • To have an understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards, accounting regulations and other guidance.
  • To assist with the closure of the month end and year end accounts process including the production of the Statement of Accounts
  • To undertake timely reconciliations to confirm that financial transactions are accurately and completely recorded in the financial ledger.
  • To adhere to the monthly and annual accounting and reporting timetables.
  • To ensure timely and appropriate returns to Government departments and other bodies in connection with statistical and financial information requests, entitlement to grants and other reclaims.
  • To assist with the budget setting process, project costing and the ongoing monitoring and reporting of any significant deviations.
  • To produce accurate, relevant and timely financial reports for Chief Officers, the Police Authority and ad hoc reports as necessary.
  • To deliver advice and guidance to the point of resolution.
  • To undertake activities and administrative tasks as required.
  • To provide an effective and efficient service to both internal and external customers ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • To communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • To ensure force systems are maintained and updated effectively in line with business processes.
  • To ensure all work is undertaken is compliant with relevant legislation and force policies and procedures, keeping up to date with emerging technologies and best practise.
  • To comply and act in accordance with relevant legislation, Dyfed-Powys Police Policies and protocols, including Code of Ethics, Personal Development Review (P.D.R), Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, Management of Police Information, Data Protection and Information Security.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT
  • Must be an AAT or part qualified accountant with membership of an accountancy body recognised by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) (E)
  • Must have the knowledge and ability to interpret and apply regulations and other guidance to meet the requirements of the role (E)
  • Must have a proven ability to work effectively with a minimum of supervision, organising and prioritising own workload (E)
  • Must have effective written and oral communication skills, with an ability to communicate with people at all levels of the organisation (E)
  • Must demonstrate a practical approach to problem solving (E)
  • Must have experience of managing budgets (E)
  • Must have experience of delivering high quality presentations (E)
  • Must possess a Diploma level qualification, or have proven, relevant experience bringing the role holder to a comparable level (E)
  • Must possess professional accreditation in the specialist area, or be prepared to successfully achieve this accreditation within 12months of commencing in role (E)
  • Must demonstrate proficiency at working to a high degree of accuracy and show attention to detail (E)
  • Must have effective keyboard inputting skills (E)
  • Must be computer literate, proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel (E)
  • Must be able to travel within the force area as required by the role (E)
  • Must have the ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh to Level 1 or be prepared to achieve this within 6 months of appointment (E)
