What you will do:
  • Participate in the analytical work of all aspects of the microbiology department to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Work independently or as part of the team to process specimens and produce precise diagnostic results.
  • Interpret clinical information and decide on follow-up tests as required, ensuring the highest accuracy.
  • Prioritise urgent tasks and manage work from multiple consultants effectively.
  • Conduct and interpret molecular diagnostic tests with precision.
  • Maintain competency and efficiency in all tasks, including those needed during core and non-core hours.
  • Coordinate with support staff and liaise with other pathology departments, users, and reference laboratories.
  • Authorise diagnostic results, ensuring clarity and correctness while adhering to departmental guidelines. Refer to senior staff when necessary.
Must be registered with HCPC and hold a recognised qualification.
