In 2015, ULCC transitioned into CoSector, continuing its mission to support the education sector through digital solutions.The RoleCoSector - University of London is seeking a Platform Security Engineer to join our Platforms Team.In this role, you'll help ensure the security and resilience of the digital infrastructure that supports our education and public sector customers. You'll implement and maintain a range of security controls across our hosting and application environments, helping protect critical services from threats and vulnerabilities.This is a varied and hands-on role, ideal for someone with experience in Linux environments and a keen interest in security. Whether you're already working in cyber security or looking to transition from a broader infrastructure role, we're looking for someone ready to grow and contribute to our expanding security function.You'll also log your work through our service management systems, support project delivery, and occasionally assist with general platform support tasks when required.The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • A proactive, methodical approach to problem-solving and documentation.
  • Hands-on experience in platform, infrastructure, or security-focused roles.
  • A strong understanding of Linux systems, ideally within a LAMP environment.
  • Exposure to cloud environments (Azure / AWS).
  • Familiarity with core security concepts: firewalls, VPNs, patching, and vulnerability management.
  • Experience contributing to or working within ISO27001 or Cyber Essentials frameworks.
